The Heavy Clay Products Group is the largest independent producer of clay building bricks in the Western Cape, with a present production capacity of around 7 million bricks per month. It supplies a variety of customers and projects; from commercial and industrial buildings, schools, police stations and hospitals to residential properties. The Group is focused not only on existing markets, but is particularly interested in the low income housing arena, which faces significant challenges including capacity, quality of workmanship and building materials, and financial constraints. The Group is committed to working together with Government, Business and Communities to make a significant contribution to reducing the huge housing deficit.

The factory is a modern, automated plant with reliable and consistent production of high quality bricks throughout the year. This is critical in the Western Cape as bricks made according to the old method of clamp firing(outdoor ovens), are vulnerable to rain in winter which may affect both quality and production. Three years ago the Group invested a large capital sum in building this factory to ensure continuity of quality and supply. In addition, the production process is substantially more environmentally friendly than older methods; using less clay and fuel and yielding very low emissions. The factory complies with all the provisions of the New Air Quality Act of 2004, and has been granted the New Order Mining Right essential for primary brick producers. Claytile has substantial clay reserves already secured to guarantee future production capacity.

Beta Holdings is dedicated to employing the latest technologies and remains committed to driving further efficiencies in the production of all its products. The ongoing regeneration of the Zimbabwean economy has resulted in a growing demand for construction inputs and Beta remains the largest brick and concrete roof tile supplier in the country.

Often times the first point of contact a customer has within the construction industry is with Beta, driving the necessity for us as a company to introduce additional value added products and services within the construction process.

With the introduction of the Roof Tile plant in April 2011, Beta Holdings consolidated its position as a key player in the local construction industry. Our goal in the coming years is to increase our position in the construction key inputs chain by providing our loyal and growing customer base a seamless supply of inputs for all their construction projects.

We provide bricks and roof tiles that are made to retain aesthetic and structural integrity, thus ensuring Beta remains a cornerstone in the creation of architectural legacies in Zimbabwe and the Southern African region.

We currently have three main operating units:

1. Brick production - our current plants have the capacity to produce up to 160 million bricks per annum, spread over 15 types.
2. Concrete Roof Tile production, annual production capacity of 8 million tiles on 2 profiles - Mendip and Double Roman in a variety of colours.
3. Logistics/Transportation - dedicated to managing the Beta Group supply chain process.

Apollo Brick was formed in 1995 and purchased Eagle Brick & Tile (Pty) Ltd (Gauteng) to ensure involvement in the building and construction industry. The Atlantis factory was purchased in the Western Cape to expand sales and increase our presence.

Apollo Brick is a principle based clay brick manufacturer operating in a mining environment and selling our products (NFP & NFX bricks) to the construction industry.

Apollo Brick manufactures approximately 200 million bricks per annum using the traditional process of mining, clay beneficiation, extrusion, open air drying and clamp burning, making the process susceptible to weather conditions and variations in the quality of the clay material being mined.

The bricks are sold to clients in the construction industry being major, medium, small contractors, building material merchants and private individuals.

Sub-contractors are used to transport the bricks from the factories to the building sites / depots on behalf of Apollo Brick.
